"Returned" is a feature length documentary that follows several Nepali child soldiers including Asha, a young Nepali girl, who was sent home from the Maoist's People's Liberation Army after the cease fire. Asha joined the Maoist army when she was 14-years-old. For this young low-caste girl, joining the Maoist was a pathway to a future with education and employment. Since her mother died, Punam, a nine-year-od Tamang girl in Nepal has shouldered the responsibility for caring for her two younger siblings. She cooks for them, helps them dress and makes sure they get to school on time. Her father works an 18-hour day to feed his family. Irma Grese was one of the SS who supervised the women's camp at Auschwitz Birkenau. By the end of 1943, in the southern part of the camp complex, there were 30,000 women, housed in 62 barracks in some of the worst conditions in the whole of Auschwitz. There was little running water, and disease was rampant. For Irma Grese the women's camp became a sadistic playground. Women survivors of the camps are interviewed to share their first-hand experiences and memories. 8:14 min.
Over the past years many European countries, including Denmark, have seen a sharp increase in the number of Nigerian women involved in prostitution. The overwhelming majority of these women are victims of human trafficking. Many arrive in Europe following a horrifying journey across the African continent.
